Media: Drone Attack on Moscow was a “Special Operation” of Ukrainian Intelligence

The drone attack on Moscow on the night of July 24 was a “special operation” of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda writes, citing a source.

“Cooperation between volunteers and structures is producing good results, to be continued,” said a source in the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

The interlocutor of the newspaper, whose name is not given, noted that all drones launched by Ukrainian intelligence reached Moscow.

The Ukrainian portal LIGA.net also writes that the drone attack on Moscow was an operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The portal reported, citing its own sources in the security services, that the target was the building of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The statement that the drone attack on the Russian capital was a “special operation” of Ukrainian intelligence was also made by sources from RBC-Ukraine and AFP.

“Today’s drone attack on Moscow was a special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate,” said a French news agency source in the Ukrainian defense ministry.

In Kyiv, they did not directly declare their involvement in the attack of drones. The representative of the GUR of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, said, in particular, that “this is a process that will continue and will gain momentum” until the Russian troops leave the country. The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Development, Mikhail Fedorov, commenting on the drone attack on Moscow, wrote in his Telegram channel that “there will be more of this.”

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the morning of July 24, an attempt by Kiev to carry out a “terrorist attack by two unmanned aerial vehicles” on objects in Moscow was foiled. The department noted that the UAVs were suppressed by electronic warfare and crashed, there were no casualties. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that attacks on two non-residential buildings were recorded at about four in the morning.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in a conversation with RTVI, called the incident “an act of international terrorism.”
